Experience Professional Brake Service at Flaherty Chevrolet in Brandenburg, KY

Your vehicle’s braking system is one of its most important safety features. Whether you drive a Chevrolet car, truck, or SUV, properly functioning brakes are essential for confident stopping power in everyday traffic, sudden stops, and challenging road conditions. At Flaherty Chevrolet in Brandenburg, Kentucky, our Chevrolet Certified Service team provides expert brake inspections, maintenance, and repairs designed to keep you and your passengers safe on every drive. Why Brake Service Matters Every time you press the brake pedal, multiple components work together to slow and stop your vehicle. Brake pads create friction against the rotors, while calipers and hydraulic brake fluid help deliver the force needed to bring your vehicle to a safe stop. Over time, these components naturally wear down due to heat, friction, and regular use. When brake parts begin to wear, stopping distances may increase and overall braking performance can decline. Ignoring early warning signs can lead to more serious damage, including worn rotors or brake system failure. Routine brake service helps ensure your Chevrolet continues to deliver reliable stopping power when you need it most. more Warning Signs Your Brakes Need Attention Your vehicle often provides clear signals when brake service is needed. Recognizing these symptoms early can help prevent more expensive repairs and improve safety on the road. Common warning signs include squeaking or squealing sounds when braking, which often indicate worn brake pads. A grinding noise may suggest the pads are fully worn down and metal components are contacting the rotors. Drivers may also notice a vibrating or pulsating brake pedal, which can be a sign of warped rotors or uneven wear. Other indicators include a soft or spongy brake pedal, longer stopping distances, or a brake warning light on the dashboard. If you experience any of these issues, it is important to schedule a brake inspection as soon as possible. What Happens During a Brake Inspection At Flaherty Chevrolet, a brake service appointment includes a detailed inspection of your entire braking system. Our technicians examine brake pads, rotors, calipers, and brake lines for wear, damage, or leaks. Brake pad thickness is measured to determine whether replacement is needed, and rotor condition is evaluated for scoring, warping, or uneven wear. Brake fluid levels and condition are also checked, since contaminated or low fluid can impact braking performance. If necessary, our team will recommend repairs using Chevrolet-approved parts designed specifically for your vehicle. How Often Should You Have Your Brakes Serviced Brake service intervals can vary depending on driving habits, road conditions, and vehicle type. In general, it is recommended to have your brakes inspected every 6,000 to 10,000 miles or at least once a year. Many drivers choose to have their brakes checked during routine oil changes to stay ahead of potential issues. Frequent city driving, towing, or stop-and-go traffic can increase brake wear, meaning inspections may be needed more often. Staying proactive with maintenance helps extend the life of your braking system and improves overall driving safety. Chevrolet Certified Brake Service You Can Trust Modern Chevrolet vehicles are engineered with advanced braking systems designed for performance and safety. Keep Your Chevrolet Running Strong With an Oil Change at Flaherty Chevrolet in Brandenburg, KY

Routine maintenance plays an important role in keeping your car, truck, or SUV ready for daily travel. One of the most essential services is a timely oil change. Fresh motor oil helps lubricate moving engine components, manage operating temperatures, and reduce the buildup of harmful deposits. At Flaherty Chevrolet in Brandenburg, Kentucky, our Chevrolet Certified Service experts can provide the oil and professional care your vehicle requires. Why Regular Oil Changes Matter Your engine contains many moving components that work together whenever your vehicle is running. Motor oil creates a protective layer between these parts, helping reduce friction and unnecessary wear. Over time, heat, contaminants, and normal engine operation can cause oil to become less effective. Driving with dirty, degraded, or insufficient oil can place additional stress on the engine. Routine oil and filter changes help maintain proper lubrication while removing contaminants captured during operation. Staying current with this straightforward maintenance service can support reliable performance during commutes, errands, road trips, and everyday drives around Brandenburg. more Know When Your Vehicle Needs an Oil Change There is no single oil-change schedule that applies to every vehicle. Your recommended maintenance interval can depend on your model, engine, oil type, mileage, driving habits, and road conditions. Frequent short trips, towing, extended idling, or driving in severe temperatures may also affect how quickly your oil needs attention. Many newer Chevrolet vehicles include the GM Oil Life System. This technology monitors operating conditions and estimates the percentage of useful oil life remaining. When your dashboard displays a change-engine-oil message, it is time to arrange service. Your owner’s manual also provides maintenance guidance specifically developed for your model. Drivers should continue checking their engine oil level between appointments, even when their vehicle includes an Oil Life System. Warning lights, unusual engine noises, visible leaks, or a burning-oil smell should receive prompt attention from a qualified technician. The Right Oil for Your Chevrolet Choosing the proper oil involves more than selecting a familiar brand. Different Chevrolet engines may require specific oil viscosities, grades, capacities, or performance standards. Using oil that does not meet your vehicle’s requirements could affect lubrication and engine performance. The Chevrolet Certified Service experts at Flaherty Chevrolet can identify the correct oil for your car, truck, or SUV. Depending on your vehicle, available options may include ACDelco Gold Conventional Engine Oil, ACDelco GM Original Equipment dexos1 Full Synthetic Engine Oil, or Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Engine Oil. Full synthetic oil is engineered to provide consistent protection across a broad range of temperatures and operating conditions. However, the best option is always the oil specified for your particular vehicle. Our team can review your Chevrolet’s requirements and help ensure the correct oil and filter are used during service. More Than Fresh Motor Oil An oil-change appointment also creates an opportunity to check other important vehicle components. During a participating multi-point vehicle inspection, a Chevrolet Certified Service technician may evaluate your remaining oil life, tire condition, fluid levels, brakes, battery connections, wiper blades, and other visible components. These checks can help identify maintenance concerns before they become more inconvenient. A technician may notice uneven tire wear, low fluid levels, worn wiper blades, battery corrosion, or visible leaks while your vehicle is already in the service bay. Addressing these concerns early can help you plan future maintenance and keep your Chevrolet prepared for the road ahead. Chevrolet Certified Service You Can Trust Chevrolet vehicles are designed with model-specific systems, components, and maintenance requirements. The Certified Service technicians at Flaherty Chevrolet receive training focused on Chevrolet cars, SUVs, and trucks. They understand how to service popular models such as the Silverado 1500, Equinox, Traverse, Trax, Tahoe, and other Chevrolet vehicles. Our service team also has access to GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco parts designed for compatible GM vehicles. Whether your Chevrolet needs a routine oil change or additional maintenance, our goal is to provide knowledgeable service and clear recommendations based on your vehicle’s condition. Schedule an Oil Change at Flaherty Chevrolet Do not wait until engine oil becomes a problem. Schedule your next oil change with Flaherty Chevrolet and let our Certified Service experts help keep your vehicle performing as intended. Our team can check your oil level, replace the oil and filter, review your Oil Life System, and inspect other essential vehicle components. Myth Busters!

We have seen many myths about car buying and the entire experience, especially when it comes to buying pre owned! Myth 1: Used cars are mostly junk. BUSTED--> Pre owned vehicles are more than old vehicles they account for trade ups, completed leases, and more. Common reasons for a trade in are: -growing families need something larger -downsizing -just looking for something new 💥 Myth 2: Used cars are not safe BUSTED--> All preowned vehicles at Tony Brown Chevrolet go through an inspection before they are sold. 💥 Myth 3: Used vehicle have poor resale value. BUSTED--> SUPPLY AND DEMAND. There is a demand NOW for vehicles and is a great time to trade in or even sell.

AWD vs 4WD

AWD vs 4WD   Since we have had a few winter storms this year we have noticed an uptick in a very important question: What is the difference between AWD and 4WD? AWD: This is a function that powers the front and rear wheels. There are 2 different kinds of AWD full time and part time. Full time is when your vehicle is always in AWD and Part time is when your vehicle automatically goes into AWD when traction is needed. One of the best parts of AWD is that the driver does not need to make a decision about engaging the system. AWD works well in a range of conditions including rain and snow.   We checked out AWD, lets dig a little deeper into 4WD: Generally found in pickup trucks and larger SUV's (but not always) it is the more traditional system for driving using all 4 wheels. Just like with AWD, 4WD is designed to send torque to all four wheels to increase traction in less than stellar road conditions. However the 4WD is considered to be more robust and can handle much more rugged terrain. Many 4WD have low and high systems that can be selected by the driver. Low is to create more traction in an off road environment while high helps create traction for snowy, rainy, etc. Conditions.   When asking “which is better” there really is no answer, it really depends on your specific needs/wants out of your vehicle. Both AWD and 4WD provide better handling in inclement weather. While AWD will certainly keep you on safe on the roads in any conditions 4WD can certainly be more efficient for off road thrill seekers and for someone who have heavy hauls for job sites. The choice is yours! What would you choose?

Is your vehicle ready for Summer?

Much like Winter, summer heat can be a tough time for your vehicle. Heat makes your air system work harder, the harsh sun can worsen wear on your hoses and driving belts, and it can expand the air in your tires. Tony Brown Chevrolet is here to help maintain your vehicle during the summer months. Wash and wax your vehicle: -Road salt and grime can really build up during winter travel and those are very harsh on your vehicles clear coat, paint, and especially your undercarriage where it can cause rusting. Summer time is great for a full vehicle detailing to help soften what the weather brings during summer and winter months. Check you’re A/C system: -Chances are during Summer months you did not need to use you’re A/C very much. The best thing to do is to run you’re A/C for a few minutes to ensure that cold is blowing out, while the air is on be very vigilant on any strange noises or odors. Your system may need to be cleaned, have a leak, or need to be recharged. Tony Brown Chevrolet can help you with any of your A/C needs! Inspect wiper blades and wiper fluid: -We all know how de-icing can wear down your wiper blades. Now is a great time to check them and make sure they do not need to be replaced. Run the wipers with your wiper fluid to ensure they do not leave behind streaks. under the hood check: -Battery: Check for Corrosion -Oil: Check to make sure it does not need changing. -Coolant: Check the level and condition. Tips for Driving in Snowy Conditions

It can be stressful to drive in snowy conditions, especially if you are not use to them. Tony Brown Chevrolet is here to help and give you tips to help ease the anxiety. DO NOT stomp on the brakes if you slide. Locking up your breaks when slide could make it worse. The best thing to do is to take your foot off the gas and try to control the steering wheel without over correcting. Drive at an appropriate speed. Don’t be afraid to drive a little slower on your morning commute especially on roads that may not have salt or rocks down. Accelerate and Decelerate slowly. Apply gas slowly to regain traction and avoid skids, do not try to move in a hurry. Also take your time when coming to a stop. It will take more time to slow when the roads are icy. Know your brakes It may be time to get your breaks checked or have no ones installed. Consult with us and we can help!

Tips for Buying your car

1. Needs vs. Wants - It is easy to get lost in the things you want in your new vehicle instead of staying focuses on what you need. There are various reasons to buy a new vehicle. Maybe you need something a bit bigger, lower your payments, or maybe it is just time for something new. Make sure your new vehicle fits what you wanted to accomplish first. 2. Choosing your dealership - Check out your dealers website and social pages. You can tell a lot by your dealers social pages. What kind of content do they have? Does it feel personal? Do they give back to the community? Utilize more than just a facebook page, google listings can also be helpful as dealers can add photos, posts, special offers etc. Take a look at reviews as well, reviews can help you learn about their sales team and also the service department. 3. In person shopping - Online research is a great tool when you begin your vehicle shopping experience. However, there is no better research than getting behind the wheel and taking it for a spin. Once you see your vehicle of choice in person it may solidify that it is the correct choice for you or that it is not. If it is not your product specialist will be there to help you make an informed decision that works best for you. 4. Down payments/trade in - In order to get where you want to be monthly you may need to have a down payment or a trade in. In order to get the most for your trade in make sure your current vehicle has had regular oil changes, cleaned, and if possible has some equity in it. The other option is to have a down payment. If you want to have a nice down payment begin your savings plan much earlier before you begin shopping. In some cases banks require a down payment. A great time to think about putting a down payment is around tax season. You will see dealers having sales during the tax months as well.

Keeping your Vehicle at its Peak

Keep the Exterior Clean --Keep the exterior clean by washing and waxing on a regular basis. Ensuring all dirt, sand, salt etc. is off your vehicle protects the clear coat finish from harsh weather conditions. A good tip is to wax at least twice a year in order to protect your exterior from the harsh summer heat and the winter storms. Most importantly be sure to spray the underneath of your vehicle. Mud and Salt are leading causes for rust. Keep up with Scheduled Maintenance --If you do not change your oil after the scheduled time (depending on miles or timeline) your vehicle will still run, but at what possible cost? Getting a regular oil change costs a lot less than replacing an engine. To keep it at its peak performance ask our service department about checking other fluids including: coolant, transmission, brake etc. https://www.flahertychevrolet.com/service.aspx Allow your vehicles engine to warm up --You may think that you will need minutes for this to take place, but in reality you only need about 30 seconds once you turn the vehicle on to allow the engine and oil to warm up. Do not drive on low tire pressure. --Low tire pressure is something that needs to be fixed sooner rather than later. Driving on low tire pressure diminishes the life of your tires and can also affect your rims if it is too low. Tires are essential, treat them as so.
